GENERAL:  Call for Collection - these programs
require that the resident prepare the Special Waste as
specified below, affix the appropriate number of Special
Waste Stickers and call 618-457-3275 to schedule a

Special Waste Stickers are available at Schnucks, Murdale True Value, and City Hall.

Set Out: Set items at curbside by 7:00 a.m. but no sooner
than 6:00 p.m. the evening before scheduled collection.

White Goods: Includes large home appliances such as: refrigerators, 
air-conditioners, cook stoves, water heaters, microwaves, washers, dryers, ect.
10 stickers per item or 20 sticers per item for items with refrigerant.

Tires: Includes automobiles, small truck, and motorcycle tires. Four stickers each 
for tires that are off the rim, six stickers each for tires that are still on the rim.

Landscape Waste ("bag & bundle program") includes grass clippings,
leaves, weeds, shrub & hedge trimmings and tree limbs up to 12 inches
in diameter.

Place grass clippings, leaves and hedge trimmings etc. in an 
environmentally friendly paper lawn waste bag that meets current EPA
guidelines (maximum 35 gallon bag: weight not to exceed 25 pounds).
Tie bag securely closed and affix 1 sticker per bag.

Cut and bundle sticks, branches and limbs (maximum 5 foot length
and 25 pounds) and tie securely at both ends with heavy twine. Affix
one sticker per bundle. Dispose of limbs 12 inches in diameter and 
larger as trash.




Carbondale's Special Loose Leaf Collection Program is offered during the months of November, December and January. Participating Residents should first rake their leaves curbside or street-side and then call the Environmental Services Office for scheduling. Please do no block sidewalks or rake into ditches or gutters.

The fee during the Special Program period is $25.00 for each collection. The regular fee outside the program period is $35.00.

Call the Environmental Services Office 618-457-3275 to schedule service. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - Noon, and 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. After hours, a recorded message may be left on voicemail by leaving name, address and a telephone number along with a request for vacuum leaf collection.

  • Rake leaves to the curbside, free of limbs and other large debris.
  • Please do not block sidewalks, or drainage facilities.
