City Vision Channel 16

Local Government Cable Channel

CityVision 16 is a governmental cable channel owned and operated by the City of Carbondale. CityVision keeps you up-to-date with meeting announcements for the Carbondale City Council, Carbondale Park District, Carbondale Public Library, Elementary School District #95, Carbondale Community High School District #165 and several of the City's Boards Commissions and Committees.

Live Broadcasts are as follows:

City Council - Tuesday - 7:00 p.m. as scheduled. Meetings are rebroadcast on Thursdays at Noon and Sundays at 1:00 p.m.

Park District Board - Monday - 7:00 p.m. Usually held on the 2nd Monday of each month. Meetings are rebroadcast on the following Monday.

Planning Commission - 1st and 3rd Wednesday - 7:00 p.m.

WSIU-FM (National Public Radio) provides a wide variety of programming on CityVision 16.

In addition to meeting announcements, CityVision tells you about the services provided to the citizens of Carbondale, such as water and sewer, recycling, parking, voter registration, bicycle registration, dog licensing, inspection services offered by the Fire Department and safety tips from the Police Department. All job openings for the City of Carbondale are listed as well.

Citizens are kept abreast of holiday trash pickup, leaf collections, street closings and road construction. Special Events such as the “Lights Fantastic Parade”, “National Night Out” and “City Council Candidate Forums” are publicized. Fun things that are happening at the Carbondale Public Library and the Carbondale Park District can also be found on CityVision 16.

Because of staffing limitations and franchise requirements, CityVision cannot be used as a local origination channel or for advertising purposes.

CityVision is indebted to the helpful staff at Mediacom who assist us with technical advice and service. The “Bulletin Board” Channel originates in the City Clerk's Office and the Video Team is comprised of City employees.
