The mission of the Mayor and City Council is to serve as the legislative and policy body of the City Government. The Mayor serves as the official head of the government.

The Mayor and City Council Members are elected at-large for staggered four-year terms on a biennial basis. Regular meetings of the City Council are normally held twice a month on Tuesdays. For calendar year 2012, there will only be one meeting in January, June, July and December.
