City Clerk's Office

The mission of the City Clerk's Office is to provide the link between past, present, and future by maintaining all the permanent records of the City.

The City Clerk’s Office serves the community through voter registration, handles requests for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act and serves as the repository for all permanent records.

The office also issues liquor licenses, raffle permits, taxicab licenses, vending permits and various other City business licenses and permits. All of these and more forms are available on the Forms and Applications Page.

The City Clerk's office administers City elections as well as local primaries. More information on Voter Registration can be accessed through the Voter Registration Page.

The City has two cemeteries: Historic Woodlawn and Oakland Cemetery. Information on these can be viewed on the Cemeteries History and Grave Sales Page.

The City Clerk's Office is pleased to offer free notary service. Persons wishing to get a document notarized should bring the document and their photo ID to the City Clerk's Office. Do not sign the document before bringing it to the office; the document must be signed in front of the notary. Important note: The City Clerk's Office is unable to notarize any documents on which the notary certification can be detached from the document being notarized. In addition, documents printed in a foreign language will not be notarized unless the document also includes an English translation. For more information view the Notary Service Page.

The City Clerk's Office serves the community through administration of Channel 16. More Information is available on the Channel 16 Page.
