Downtown Hotel Feasibility Study

Hilton Home2 Suites

 

 

 

On the 200 block of West Elm Street in downtown Carbondale a 85 room Hilton Home2 Suites Hotel is being built.

 

 

 

 

Demolition of Old Horizon Inn

 

 

 

In July the City of Carbondale approved the demolition of the Old Horizon Inn Hotel. Development plans for the property will be to attract “a high-quality, commercial development that will compliment Carbondale’s existing business community,”

Heartland Medical Complex

 

Heartland Women’s Healthcare will open a new medical complex in the 900 block of East Walnut Street in Carbondale. The facility will have 25,000 square feet with 7,000 feet of that square footage dedicated to an OB/GYN clinic. The Facility will offer patients same-day and last-minute appointments.The building is scheduled to be completed in late 2015

 

 

 

 

Evolve Building Complex

 

The most visible change to downtown is the completion of the Evolve building which has resulted in increased foot traffic in the downtown area. This new complex provides over 6,000 square feet of retail space, over 70 indoor/outdoor parking spaces and 350 units of housing for both students and non-students. With its opening in August the property is nearly at capacity and the addition of new businesses at street level are planned to arrive this fall.

Downtown Master Plan

The City of Carbondale, sought proposals from qualified consultants to provide professional planning services associated with developing a new Downtown Master Plan for the Carbondale community. The new Downtown Master Plan will serve as a policy document and official plan guiding growth and development of the downtown area during the next 15 years, through 2030. The new Downtown Master Plan will be titled Downtown Carbondale 2030.
