Due to the COVID19 epidemic, the City and its partners will not be hosting the events previously planned for May’s National Bike Month. This is such a difficult decision to make, as Carbondale has been celebrating Bike Month for about 15 years and we were all geared up for another fun and successful year – but without a crystal ball, we just don’t know if group activities will be safe by May.
On the bright side, we can, and should, still get out and ride our bikes! May 11th through May 17th is National Bike to Work Week. Start thinking now about the best route to take to get to school or work, or to run errands such as grocery shopping. Throughout the months of April and May, we’ll be sharing resources on the Facebook page @BikeCarbondaleIL to help you get you and your family ready to go by bike! When you’re out cycling, share on social media with #bikecarbondale – this will create a virtual photo album that we can look back on for years to come.
Thank you to our partners, The Neighborhood Co-op Grocery, Carbondale Tourism, The Carbondale Park District, Rotary Club, and Carbondale Main Street, The Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois, Phoenix Cycles, The Bike Surgeon, and Carbondale Cycles, for their on-going support of Carbondale Bike Month.
